Philip was inspired by ceramic tropes with this series. When studying ceramics one will learn not to mix clay bodies but Philip did it anyway. Philip stacks hand-rolled porcelain coils over stoneware coils repetitively until the bottled vessels are formed.Philip was interested in furthering his investigation of the fabrication process and of the piece’s decorative element by adding a different colored clay body to the equation.
These bottles are hand-rolled and coil built in two stoneware clays, one white and one black. This piece measures approximately 19.5 tall and 12" wide.
